ABOUT US
The Parish News is the official weekly
publication of Silliman University Church.
SILLIMAN UNIVERSITY CHURCH
Silliman University Church is a local
church of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines situated
inside the campus of Silliman University in Dumaguete City, Negros
Oriental, Philippines. It is primarily a church called to serve the
community at Silliman University, with whom it partners in ministering
to the spiritual needs of its students, faculty, staff,
administration, alumni, associates and friends.
As a local church it also serves the
larger community in cooperation with the Negros District Conference to
which it belongs.
"The Church is the universal fellowship
of love and sharing, created and empowered by the Holy Spirit; the
living community of those who have committed themselves to Jesus
Christ as Lord and Savior and so partake in the eternal life of His
kingdom by the saving acts of God, yet recognizing their weakness and
sinfulness, constantly seek God's mercy and continually strive to grow
into Christ-like maturity; the household of faith devoted to the
worship of God as a grateful response to His love and grace; the
witnessing community sent by God into the world as an instrument of
His redemptive love to demonstrate the life of love through humble
service; to proclaim God's word; to preach the Gospel of
reconciliation through Jesus Christ, calling all men to repentance and
discipleship, and to declare God's complete sovereign rule in the
lives of men and society looking forward to the fulfillment of His
kingdom which has no end."

University Church Preamble)
